Jesse Davies - Circle One Team Rider
Jesse recently returned from Peru where he represented Great Britain at this year's World Masters Surfing Championships. We say "All hail Jesse".
Competing in the Masters event which includes anyone over 35 years old, Jesse came 17th just behind fellow GB team mate Clayton Lidster who came in 15th. Overall the team came 14th out of 17 teams in an event that saw some monstrous two to three metres plus surf. Team South Africa claimed the top spot followed by Australia in second place and Brazil in third.
Jesse described the waves as amazing and the all round surfing as brilliant. But this wasn't his first experience of surfing in South America, he's previously surfed Argentina, Chile, Easter Island and Peru with other travels taking him to most of the coast of mainland Europe, Canaries, Morocco, South Africa, Indonesia and Hawaii. Jesse notoriously enjoys big waves and the challenge of confronting the ocean on a big day. Some of the heaviest waves he has surfed around the world include El Gingos, Chile; Papa Tangaroa, (translates to King of the Sea) Easter Island; Waimea, Sunset and Pipe and Haleiwa on Hawaii.
Carve interestingly describes Jesse 'like King Kong in the wrong body' and 'the most ‘core’ of the Tynemouth Malloys!'.
