Are your surfboard and SUP bags true length or designed to fit a board of the length they state?

Our surfboard and SUP bags are generously sized with around 2 – 3 inches extra length to comfortably accommodate a board of the length they state they are for. For example, a 7ft board bag will actually be around 7ft 2, so will comfortably fit a 7ft board of many different makes and models, and would probably fit a slim 7ft 2 mini mal too. We have a size guide here for all widths of bags too, so if in doubt measure your board, or get in touch for the true dimensions of any bag if your board is particularly wide or thick e.g. a foamie board.

What length surfboard leash should I buy?

Generally you should go for a leash the same length or a little longer than your surfboard, e.g. for a 6ft surfboard go for a 6ft leash, or a 6ft 6 surfboard go for a 7ft leash.

How do I choose the correct wetsuit size?

We try our best to provide a wetsuit size guide for each of our wetsuits, so get out a tape measure and see which size you’d fit best. We would however, always recommend you try on a wetsuit before you buy, as different brands fit in different ways and it is always better to be sure. So if you are able to, please come and see us in our factory shop in Crediton, near Exeter and we can find your perfectly fitting wetsuit. If this isn’t possible, we offer hassle-free returns within 30 days so if the wetsuit you opt for doesn’t fit then please send it back for a full refund.

What thickness of wetsuit should I go for?

This depends on how much you feel the cold, how long you’ll spend in water and what temperature the water will be. We have a full diagram showing ideal wetsuit thickness for water temperature in our wetsuit buying guide. In general, for a UK summer wetsuit you’ll want a 3/2 mm full length or shortie wetsuit, maybe depending on how long you’ll be in the sea for. For winter go for a 5/4/3 mm minimum (potentially with boots, gloves and a hood too), and for a Spring, Summer and Autumn all-rounder wetsuit, a 4/3 mm might be more versatile.

Is a chest zip or back zip wetsuit better?

In general a chest zip wetsuit is better at keeping out water than a back zip as water can flush in through the zip. Therefore many surfers opt for a chest zip on winter wetsuits where this is more important. Having no zip running down the back also makes chest zip wetsuits more flexible on the torso. The main drawback of a chest zip wetsuit is that they are hard to get on and off until you get used to it and refine your technique. Therefore if you aren’t very flexible or this is your first wetsuit we would recommend sticking to buying a back zip wetsuit for ease.

Product Care & Repair

How often should I wax my surfboard?

You should check the wax on your surfboard each time you go surfing, and you may have to top up the wax on your board each time you go out if it isn’t grippy enough for you. You should completely take off all wax, clean your surfboard and reapply your basecoat and topcoat every three months if you surf regularly or when it starts to lose grip even when you reapply. You should also clean all wax off your board if you are putting it into storage or not going to use it for a while. More information on waxing your surfboard can be found here.

Help! I have a dent or crack on my surfboard, can I repair it?

Most small repairs on a surfboard can be fixed using a Ding Repair Kit or ding repair tape to patch it up and stop water getting in while you surf. You need to know what your board is made from as you can get epoxy kits for epoxy surfboards, and polyester kits for fibreglass boards. If you aren’t sure what type of surfboard you have, always use an epoxy kit as they are safe for all constructions.

If you only have to make a small repair you can use a UV-activated resin cure which hardens in a few minutes when exposed to direct sunlight so ideal for on the beach. If in doubt, seek support from a surfboard repair professional or contact the manufacturer.

How do you wax a surfboard?

Ensure the surfboard is clean and free from existing wax or dirt. Apply a basecoat wax to the board in broad, strong strokes, concentrating on the areas you will stand on. Apply a softer topcoat wax on top of the base in a criss cross pattern across the main area you will stand on the board. Make sure you use the correct temperature wax for the water you are surfing in. For more information check out our blog about how to wax your surfboard

Is it possible to repair my wetsuit?

Small repairs can be done using a neoprene glue such as Stormsure Flexible Adhesive which will provide a quick and easy fix. Here at Circle One we also do wetsuit repairs in our factory shop near Exeter, so get in touch if you would like a quote for your wetsuit, or pop in to see us and we will do our best to fit you in.

Delivery & Shipping

How long does standard delivery take?

Our standard free UK mainland delivery usually takes 2 – 3 working days on a tracked service with Royal Mail, Parcel Force or Tuffnells for bigger boards. Although very reliable, please note that occasionally delivery can be affected by adverse weather, busy periods of the year and other factors outside of our control and take longer than anticipated.

Do you do next day delivery?

We can do next working day delivery for UK mainland addresses at an additional cost of £6.95. If you order on a Friday, then the next working day is Monday so that is the earliest it would arrive, if it was dispatched on the Friday.

Can you deliver products to Europe?

We can ship wetsuits, accessories, bodyboards & skimboards to some European countries. The cost depends on the country and can be seen here or will be calculated at checkout depending on the delivery address you enter. We use Parcel Force for this service and shipping usually takes 3 – 5 working days. Please note we cannot ship surfboards or hard SUP boards outside of the UK and Ireland.
